[If something doesn’t work](#troubleshooting) ## Sign in with PostHog Cloud The fastest way for PostHog Cloud (US or EU). Nothing to copy, and the app finds your region itself. 1. 1 ### Tap Connect PostHog A PostHog page opens in your browser. It is PostHog asking, not this app. Your password never reaches us. 2. 2 ### Pick your region US or EU — whichever you signed up on. Asked once. PostHog remembers it, so you never see this again. 3. 3 ### Approve the permissions Twelve read permissions, listed on the consent screen. All read-only. Five run the app, seven unlock a screen each — and none of them can change anything. - user:read - project:read - dashboard:read - insight:read - query:read - error\_tracking:read - feature\_flag:read - experiment:read - survey:read - session\_recording:read - cohort:read - annotation:read ## Connect with a personal API key For PostHog Cloud, if you prefer a key you control and can revoke separately. 1. 1 ### Open your PostHog key page Pick the region you signed up on. Already signed in on this phone? You land on the right page directly. You can revoke it any time without touching your account. 3. 3 ### Limit it to your project Under organization and project access, pick the project you want to see. Switching between several projects later? Then allow those too — the app can only show what the key can see. 4. 4 ### Tick these five permissions All read-only. No write permission is ever needed. Scopes cannot be changed afterwards. Skip them and the app still works. Skipped one? Missed it? Make another one. Old keys can be deleted, it costs nothing. 7. 7 ### Come back and paste it Leave the host field empty — the app finds your region itself. A wrong key is never saved. You simply land back here. ## Connect a self-hosted PostHog For your own PostHog instance, using a personal API key. 1. 1 ### Enter your PostHog address The same address you open in the browser, for example https://posthog.mycompany.com Once it is in, the button below opens the key page on your own instance. 2. 2 ### Open your key page Personal API keys live under settings, same as on Cloud. On your instance: `https://your-posthog-host/settings/user-api-keys` 3. 3 ### Create a key and tick these five All read-only, same as on Cloud. Older self-hosted versions may name them slightly differently. Read is read. - user:read - project:read - dashboard:read - insight:read - query:read 4. 4 ### Optional: seven more Each adds a screen under More. Older instances may not have all of them. Enter your address and the key together. If the certificate is not trusted, the app says so and names the host. ## If something doesn’t work - **You end up on a “You’re signed in” web page.** Open MobileHog once directly; the connection is usually already there. - **A screen says a permission is missing.** The key or sign-in doesn’t include it. For a key, create a new one with that permission ticked; scopes can’t be added to an existing key. - **A tile says “Not calculated yet”.** PostHog has no cached result for it.
